Sydney Endodontists History
Sydney Endodontists started at 60 Park Street, Sydney CBD, as a solo practice, in 1975 by Dr Steven Cohn who was one of the first specialist endodontists in Australia.
Over the years the practice gradually expanded, firstly with Dr Penelope Jones and later with Dr Barry Sandler followed by Dr Robyn Thomas and Dr Alan Nerwich.
In 2000, the practice moved to the 11th floor of the same building and became known as Park Street Endodontists and expanded further with Dr Donna Richards and Dr Marcus Yan joining the team.
A decision was made in 2006 to open a satellite practice in Bondi Junction and, in 2016, in Miranda, and change the name of the practice to Sydney Endodontists.
Over the years, since then, several of our endodontic team have retired and/or relocated to other parts of Australia. The COVID epidemic was not kind to our practice and resulted in us closing our satellite practices to consolidate to our main practice in Park Street, CBD.
In 2024, we built a brand new, bespoke practice on the 3rd floor, 60 Parks street, now providing our cutting edge endodontic treatment, in a beautiful environment.
Our practice has always taken pride in being an ethical and friendly practice offering the highest standards of endodontics and cutting edge technology. The practice was the first practice in Australia to have an operating microscope installed in 1998 and, more recently, one of the first to have a Cone Beam CT. Both Drs Nerwich and Richards have been very active in continuing education. They have both been Presidents of our local Australian endodontic societies and academies. Dr Nerwich has been heavily involved with the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA), arguably the largest International endodontic association, for 14 years, culminating in him being President of the Association. Both Alan and Donna regularly attend local and international conferences to maintain the highest standards of knowledge and to keep up to date with the latest technology enabling us to provide the highest level of expertise to our patients.
